History

The Gwent Bach Society, now the Gwent Bach Choir, was set up in 1951 by local GP Dr. Lloyd Davies, with the support of his brother Dr. Trevor Davies and an enthusiastic group of local musicians. In the early years the Society included an orchestra but this is no longer the case.

Regular concerts have been staged from the beginning and were interrupted only by the Covid pandemic in 2020, during which we continued to rehearse online via Zoom. Later that year we were able to sing socially distanced in the open air in fine summer weather.

In 2001 we appointed Roger Langford as our Musical Director and the choir continues to flourish under his baton.
